WHAT IS TOP TEN TUESDAY? (CLICK HERE)
This week's topic is 2014 releases we still haven't read. Towards the end of 2013, back when I was still reading and blogging regularly, I was already starting to feel the excitement building for those books that were being released the following year. I don't own many of them, but there are some that I got that I still haven't read. My bad!
1. CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE BY CASSANDRA CLARE
Cassandra Clare is one of my absolute favourite authors, but despite the fact that my boyfriend bought me a copy, I still haven't read it! I'm planning on re-reading the whole series soon, though, so we'll get there!
2. DREAMS OF GODS & MONSTERS BY LAINI TAYLOR
Unfortunately, I don't actually own a copy of this book, but I will eventually. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, and despite the fact that the second one was a little meh for me the first time I read it, I do plan on finishing this series at some point.
3. UNHINGED BY A.G. HOWARD
The first book in this series was absolutely amazing, but I didn't think the author would write a sequel. When this second book was announced, I pretty much died of excitement... and yet I still don't own a copy. Le sigh.
4. FOUR BY VERONICA ROTH
I received this book as a gift from my amazing boyfriend just after it was released, but I still haven't read it. I think I'm going to re-read the main series, then read this book. I love Four, so it's bound to be an awesome, short read.
5. THE ONE BY KIERA CASS
The first two books in this series were pretty great, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the third book. I'm not sure whether or not this is going to be the last novel, but I'm ever so curious to see what the author is going to do next.
6. A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU BY CLAUDIA GRAY
Though I've never read anything by this author, I've heard amazing things about her. The premise of this novel really calls to me, and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Fortunately, I don't need to feel too bad about not having read this book yet, as it's only been out a couple of months...
7. THE WINNER'S CURSE BY MARIE RUTKOSKI
I have heard an incredible amount of amazing things about this book, and I know that I'm going to love it. The world-building is apparently fantastic, and the premise definitely interests me. I already have the sequel from NetGalley ready to go on my Kindle.
8. SNOW LIKE ASHES BY SARA RAASCH
High Fantasy is a genre that I generally struggle with, but for some reason, I keep coming back to this book. I absolutely adore the cover, and cannot wait to give it a shot.
9. INFINITE BY JODI MEADOWS
Much like one of the earlier books I mentioned, I found the second book in this novel to feel slightly off. However, most people felt that way, so I trust their judgment when they tell me that the third and final novel in this trilogy is as epic as the first.
10. TOP TEN CLUES YOU'RE CLUELESS BY LIZ CZUKAS
Another book that hasn't been out very long, but I've heard some unbelievably fantastic things about it. I love lists, too, so I'm not too worried about that aspect of this novel. Plus, the cover is so cute.
So there you have my top ten novels from 2014 that I still need to read! What made it onto your list? Leave me the link to your post/video and I'll be sure to check it out. For now, happy reading!
The Winner's Curse, Snow like Ashes and A Thousand Pieces of You sound fabulous :-D I really want to read those this year! I'm also going start the Mortal Instruments series - I'm very behind! lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat list and I hope you get a chance to read these soon :-D
I still need to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters too but I will be sad when the series ends. I think it's probably my favourite series. I bought The Winner's Curse recently so I'm definitely looking forward to reading that soon. I can never decide if I want to read Snow Like Ashes or not. People rave about it but I keep thinking I won't like it, even though I tend to like that genre. Hmm..
ReplyDeleteThe Mortal Instruments is definitely one of my all-time favourite series', so I look forward to hearing your thoughts :D
ReplyDeleteSee, I'm the opposite. I generally don't like books like Snow Like Ashes, but I keep getting drawn to this one for some reason. I look forward to seeing how you felt about it if you do end up reading it (:
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these books but I've heard amazing things about A Thousand Pieces of You and I've got Snow Like Ashes on my wishlist. I can't resist a good YA fantasy. I got Four for Christmas so hopefully I'll read it sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteI see you're also a fan of gorgeous covers! I meant to read most of these as well, but my TBR list has gotten huge so I've been trying to catch up on books from previous years! I would definitely recommend The Winner's Curse though, as it's brilliantly written and just completely enthralling! I love the banner on the top of your blog by the way! The Harry Potter quote does not go unnoticed! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a massive cover whore. I will buy books based solely on the cover with no shame, haha! I bought The Winner's Curse on my Kindle when I received a review copy of the sequel. I'll definitely be reading it before the release of The Winner's Crime. So excited! :D
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! I spent ages deciding on a quote, but I love Harry Potter and most people will recognize that quote, so I figured why not :P
