January 2015 Recap: The One With Lots Of Books

31 January 2015

Well folks, January is over already. It worries me that the days are flying by so fast. Nevertheless, January is my least favourite month of the year, so I guess I can't complain too much. Of course, with the end of January comes the end of my first month back in the blogosphere. It was a pretty successful month, all in all. I wrote 19 posts (not including this one), added 17 books to my shelves, and managed to finish a grand total of 9 books - more than I've ever read in 30 days. I'm very proud.

Anyway, in case you missed anything, here's what's been happening on the blog this month.

I cannot believe I managed to read 9 books in total this month. Even back in my old blogging days, I rarely managed more than 7 in a month, so you can imagine how stoked I am that I beat that record in my first month back! Definitely a good start to what I can only hope will be a fantastic year.

On a slightly less fun note, I did spend an absolute fortune on books this month, despite a couple of them coming from charity shops. I actually bought a brand new copy of Magic Study after realising that my old one was pretty badly damaged, so that didn't help the financial situation. Meh, I'll just have to be a little more responsible next month.

Anyway, here's my challenge update for the first month of 2015. The totals are calculated after adding the books contributed.

  1. I can't believe it's already February.. Congrats on doing so well with your posts! I hope you can keep it up :D I really liked Poison study, the sequel not so much, the third book was great again. I want to read Talon despite the negative buzz it had a while back. She's such a good author.. and I can't wait for the winner's crime. Happy reading!

  2. Ha, interesting! I felt a bit underwhelmed by Yelena in Magic study, but good to see you did enjoy it. A lot of my trusted bloggers seemed to dislike Talon, especially because of the romance. I'm still curious though.

  3. Thanks, lovely. It's shocking how fast January went. See, I actually preferred Magic Study over Poison Study, but I've heard that the third is the best so I'm very excited to read it. To be honest, I didn't know there was any negative buzz about Talon. Just a bunch of people not liking it, or something else?

  4. Ahh, I see. I've noticed a lot of books based on dragons get a lot of negative reviews. I've had The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini on my shelf forever now, but keep pushing it aside because dragons are apparently a really tough subject, haha.
